Employee Spotlight Series: Kalyna Pyk

Holland Parks & Recreation has the most hardworking, incredible employees and we are excited to shine light on them in our Employee Spotlight Series!

Kalyna Pyk is a lifeguard & swim instructor at Bouws Pool and she has been working with us for five summers! We had the pleasure of visiting her at Bouws pool to ask her a few questions about herself and her job!

Briefly describe your position and what you do with Parks & Recreation.  

Kalyna: I am a lifeguard at Bouws pool, and I also help out with swim lessons! During Tulip Time, I also worked concessions!

What kinds of recreational activities do you participate in during your spare time?  

Kalyna: I love the people, both those that I work with and the patrons!

What is your favorite part about your job, and why?  

Kalyna: I swim competitively!

What is your favorite thing about Holland?  

Kalyna: I like how close the beaches are and how many water activities the city had to offer!

Who or what inspires you professionally?  

Kalyna: My parents both do. Watching them work and seeing their dedication plays a big role in my own professional life.

What is your favorite memory from working here?  

Kalyna: I just have met so many wonderful people. I have so many memories with all of them.

What is your go-to meal in Holland?  

Kalyna: Anything from DeBoer Bakery!
