Learn to paint botanical illustrations, animal portraits, serene landscapes, and classic still life arrangements. In this class, you’ll build confidence and creativity as you explore different styles and approaches.

This class builds on foundational self-defense principles through practical application and scenario-based training. We will focus on putting your skills to the test with realistic mat work and partner drills, incorporating bag work to refine striking power and technique. Rather than high-intensity cardio, this session emphasizes controlled practice, decision-making under pressure, and developing confidence in real-world situations. Recommended for those who have completed a previous self-defense course, though all experience levels are welcome.

Join us for the 27th annual World Taiji (Tai Chi) Day for a free, beginner-friendly, worldwide event. Taiji is a gentle, flowing exercise that promotes relaxation, posture alignment, balance, and peace through mindful movement. At 10:00 am local time, people around the world will simultaneously practice Taiji to harmonize their energy for global healing and peace. Led by Chris Campbell, a Holland teacher with 39 years of experience, along with local instructors, this event welcomes everyone regardless of experience, and no special equipment is needed.

Wake up and flow at Kollen Park! Join us for energizing Saturday morning yoga sessions on the edge of Lake Macatawa. These all-level outdoor classes welcome everyone in a peaceful lakeside setting. Bring your beach towel and yoga mat for an invigorating practice by the bandshell that’ll set the tone for your entire weekend.

This club is an opportunity to beautify the city and also to meet and have fun socializing with other like-minded gardeners. This 6-week program will be led by City of Holland Greenhouse staff. Each week, members will travel around the City of Holland, sprucing up and planting around Downtown Holland and various park areas, with the goal of helping make Holland shine throughout the busy summer months. At the conclusion of the program participants will enjoy a light refreshment hour and a Garden Club t-shirt to show our appreciation for their work over the 6-week program.

Thread to Things is a beginner-friendly series that builds practical sewing skills through guided, hands-on projects. You’ll learn how to use a sewing machine with confidence, cut fabric accurately, sew clean seams, and finish projects professionally. By the end of these two sessions, you’ll leave with three completed projects and the skills to continue sewing on your own. All sewing machines and supplies are included. No prior experience necessary—just bring your creativity.

Explore how to paint animals of all kinds, from beloved pets to woodland creatures and birds. Students will work on basic watercolor techniques. You’ll learn how to capture personality, movement, and texture (think fur, feathers, and whiskers!) while building confidence with color mixing, layering, and brush control.

Over the course of four weeks, participants will work alongside the City of Holland Greenhouse staff and Parks crew to prepare flower beds, fertilize, and plant tulip bulbs throughout the community. This is a unique opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at the work that goes into Holland’s famous tulip displays while also connecting with others who enjoy giving back and making our city shine. At the conclusion of the program participants will receive a Garden Club t-shirt to show our appreciation for their work over the 6-week program.
