Employee Spotlight Series: Jacolyn Schuler

Holland Parks & Recreation has the most hardworking, incredible employees and we are excited to shine light on them in our Employee Spotlight Series!

Jacolyn Schuler is a volleyball instructor, and she has been working with us for almost a year! We had the pleasure of visiting her at a volleyball practice to ask her a few questions about herself and her job!

Briefly describe your position and what you do with Parks & Recreation.  

Jacolyn: I am a volleyball coach! I work to grow the sport of volleyball in the Holland community.

What kinds of recreational activities do you participate in during your spare time?  

Jacolyn: Seeing the kids’ confidence grow! See them flourish and build their skills.

What is your favorite part about your job, and why?  

Jacolyn: I play a lot of sand and outdoor volleyball! I also do a lot of home DIY projects!

What is your favorite thing about Holland?  

Jacolyn: I love the community and the diversity! I think the culture here is so amazing and I love being part of it.

Who or what inspires you professionally?  

Jacolyn: My husband inspires me! We feed off each other and really push each other to be the best we can be!

What is your favorite memory from working here?  

Jacolyn: All the laughs at practices. I look forward to the games, but it is the small things at practice.

What is your go-to meal in Holland?  

Jacolyn: Right now, I am craving sushi from Mizu downtown. My birthday is coming up and I am having my husband take me there!
